Weight Loss - Lose The Guilt To Lose Weight

Here is something that you never hear anyone talk about when it comes to weight loss. That is, how our emotions come into play when we attempt to lose weight, or to achieve any goal for that matter.

For the longest period of time I thought that guilt way a nonproductive emotion. Just recently I came to realize how wrong I was. Guilt is much more than nonproductive, it is counter productive. So much so that it prevents us from obtaining our goals, in this case, losing weight.

Naturally, you ask yourself how this works. It is quite simple really. Guilt is the mechanism that allows us to bind together two contradictory thoughts, beliefs, desires or actions.

Here is a simple example, one pertaining to your weight loss program. Let us assume for a moment that you are overweight. It is on your mind a great deal of the time. You are unhappy with this condition. As a matter of fact, it plagues you. It is on your mind constantly and you absolutely plan to do something about it. Maybe you are even in the process of dieting and exercising right now. Okay. So you have had a long, frustrating day. There is a pint of chocolate ice cream with your name on it in the freezer. You know in your heart that eating it will be counter productive. Jeez, it is worse than that. No only will it delay your weight loss, it will actually put weight on your thighs. What do you do? You guessed it. You eat the pint of ice cream.

What is the mechanism that allows this to happen? What is it that allows you to know for certain that what you are doing is against your own best interests and you do it anyway? Duh, it is guilt. Guilt is the means that allows us to bind these absolutely, contradictory actions together. We are dieting (or plan on dieting) and eating ice cream at the same time. Not to beat a dead horse, but what makes this alright in our minds and emotions. Guilt.

By this time you are saying to yourself, do not be silly. This is the most ridiculous thing that I have ever heard. Well, stop and think about this for a few minutes. Find other examples in your life where this can apply. You will discover that it is no so silly after all.

When you come to the realization that this may in fact be true, you should be asking yourself what can be done about it. The easy answer, on the face of it, is to just stop feeling guilty. Easier said than done.

You see, guilt has a small army of allies. This army of allies only strengthen the power of guilt. These allies include, but are not limited to, low self esteem, self pity and a general negative outlook on life.

By now, the picture is beginning to look hopeless. Not so. The fact of the matter is that there are a number of people who lose weight every single day. What is it that they do to successfully lose weight? What is it that I can do to duplicate their success?

The single, most important and powerful thing that you can do is to set your goal. When you establish this goal it has to be set in stone. Ghandi use to talk about taking a personal vow. I take this to mean to establish your goal at the highest and deepest mental and emotional levels. When you do this then every action that you take will contribute to arriving at your goal. That includes the slips and missteps.

Anyway, there you have it, something to think about. If you have tried to diet and lose weight in the past, and were unsuccessful, perhaps you have gained some insight as to why. With some self reflection perhaps your next attempt will be your last.

What is Cacao?

Cacao is the seed of a fruit of an Amazonian tree that was brought to Central America during or before the time of the Olmecs. Cacao beans were so revered by the Mayans and Aztecs that they used them as money!

In 1753 Carl von Linnaeus, the 18th-century Swedish scientist, thought that cacao was so important that he named the genus and species of this tree himself. He named this tree: Theobroma cacao, which literally means "cacao, the food of the gods."

Cacao beans contain no sugar and between 12% and 50% fat depending on variety and growth conditions. Nature's First Law cacao beans are around 40% fat content (low compared to other nuts). There is no evidence to implicate cacao bean consumption with obesity.

Magnesium
Cacao is remarkably rich in magnesium.

Cacao seems to be the #1 source of magnesium of any food. This is likely the primary reason women crave chocolate during the menstrual period. Magnesium balances brain chemistry, builds strong bones, and is associated with more happiness. Magnesium is the most deficient major mineral on the Standard American Diet (SAD); over 80% of Americans are chronically deficient in Magnesium!

Stimulant or Superfood?
Cacao contains subtle amounts of caffeine and theobromine. However, experiments have shown that these stimulants are far different when consumed raw than cooked.

Consider the following: Experimental provings of chocolate by homeopaths indicate its stimulating effect when cooked. One experiment conducted with a decoction of roasted ground cacao beans in boiling water produced an excitement of the nervous system similar to that caused by black coffee, an excited state of circulation, and an accelerated pulse. interestingly, when the same decoction was made with raw, unroasted beans neither effect was noticeable, leading the provers to conclude that the physiological changes were caused by aromatic substances released during roasting.

MAO Inhibitors
Cacao seems to diminish appetite, probably due to its monoamine oxidase enzyme inhibitors (MAO inhibitors) - these are different from digestive enzyme inhibitors found in most nuts and seeds. These rare MAO inhibitors actually produce favorable results when consumed by allowing more serotonin and other neurotransmitters to circulate in the brain. According to Dr. Gabriel Cousens, MAO inhibitors facilitate youthening and rejuvenation.

Phenylethylamine (PEA)
Phenylethylamine (PEA) is found in chocolate. PEA is an adrenal-related chemical that is also created within the brain and released when we are in love. This is one of the reasons why love and chocolate have a deep correlation. PEA also plays a role in increasing focus and alertness.

Anandamide (The Bliss Chemical)
A neurotransmitter called anandamide, has been isolated in cacao. Anandamide is also produced naturally in the brain. Anandamide is known as "The Bliss Chemical" because it is released while we are feeling great. Cacao contains enzyme inhibitors that decrease our bodies' ability to breakdown anandamide. This means that natural anandamide and/or cacao anandamide may stick around longer, making us feel good longer, when we eat cacao.

Allergies?
A recent study showed that only one out of 500 people who thought they were allergic to chocolate actually tested positive. Allergies to chocolate are quite rare. It is typically the case that the person is in fact allergic to milk and dairy products.

What to do with Cacao Beans?

Step 1: Peel the cacao beans (two methods of peeling): 1. Peel them dry with your fingernails or a small knife.
2. Soak the cacao beans in water up to 30 minutes, then peel them. Soaking softens the skin-peel and sometimes makes peeling easier.

Step 2: What to do with your peeled cacao beans: 1. Try eating them straight, one at a time. Chew it thoroughly and experience the taste extravaganza of raw chocolate.
2. Add to coconut-based or fruit-based smoothies to enhance the flavor.
3. Add a drip of agave nectar or honey or another sweetening agent to the raw cacao bean and chew!
4. Freeze cacao beans with sweeteners (agave nectar or honey are fantastic). Eat cold.
5. Blend cacao beans into herbal teas with the Peruvian superfood maca.
6. Crush cacao beans with a mortar and pestle and add to raw ice creams for the best chocolate chips in the world.
7. Create a raw chocolate bar! Blend the following raw ingredients together: cacao beans, agave nectar, carob powder, maca, coconut oil, angstrom calcium, and cashews. Pour into a mold and freeze. Eat cold and experience the truth about the food of the gods!

Burn That Fat - The Fast Easy Way!

Here's what I think:

I wanna burn that fat the fast easy way!

If they tell me that it's going to take 10 months to lose 10 pounds then I don't want to go there!

I mean... gimme a break!

It may be slow and steady and easy on my body but it's going to take years to lose any appreciable number of pounds.

I mean, I don't want to be going around feeling hungry all the time; hanging on by my fingernails as I struggle to resist the temptation to grab a quick delicious high carb snack!

Been there... done that!

So here's the scoop... the trick is to first get rid of that carb craving. Anyway you do it is good, but if you can find a way to do it without feeling hungry then you're on a roll.

That carb craving is your major enemy!

This is what has defeated you in the past and it will defeat you again and again until you find an effective way to get rid of it so you aren't continually challenged to fall off your program.
